WHO WE ARE
REAL PEOPLE. REAL RECOVERY. REAL RESULTS.
OUR STORY
BORN FROM LIVED EXPERIENCE
Progress Not Perfection was founded on a simple but powerful truth:
Addiction recovery should not be reserved for only those who can afford it. Everyone deserves access to compassionate, evidence-based care, especially when they are at their most vulnerable.
Progress Not Perfection’s mission was shaped by lived experience. While spending time within traditional recovery systems and halfway houses, founder Ross Timyan witnessed firsthand how many individuals were left without meaningful clinical support. Too often, relapse was treated as failure instead of what it truly is; a part of a complicated and deeply human recovery journey.
Ross saw a need for something different: an addiction recovery model rooted in empathy, understanding, accountability, and accessible therapeutic care.
While in recovery, Ross met Larry Mabry, a clinical therapist, who shared the same belief that addiction recovery should be built on compassion rather than judgment and Progress Not Perfection began to take form. Together, they envisioned an organization where people could return after relapse without shame, receive real clinical support, and be met with understanding instead of isolation.
Today, Progress Not Perfection is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in West Palm Beach, Florida, providing in person and virtual counseling, therapy, life coaching, and holistic recovery support, making support accessible to individuals wherever they are.
Every member of our team carries a personal connection to recovery. We do this work because we have seen and experienced firsthand the challenges, the setbacks, and the courage it takes to keep going. Our approach is grounded in empathy, clinical integrity, and the belief that healing is not linear.
At Progress Not Perfection, we don’t define people by their addiction, we walk alongside them through recovery as they move forward, one step at a time.
